  4. Click Calculate — instantly see results in days, weeks, months, years, hours, minutes, and seconds.

Use the "Swap Dates" button to quickly reverse the date range. All calculations happen instantly in your browser — no data is sent to any server.

How This Date Duration Calculator Works

The calculator computes the absolute difference between your two dates in milliseconds, then converts that into days, weeks, months, and years. It uses the Gregorian calendar and accounts for varying month lengths and leap years when computing month/year breakdowns.

Business day counting excludes Saturdays and Sundays from the total. The system is designed to support holiday exclusions in the future — for now, only weekends are excluded.

The "include start/end date" options adjust the counting method. By default, the calculator counts the gap between dates (e.g., January 1 to January 3 = 2 days). When you include the start or end date, it adds one day to create an inclusive count.

Examples

Vacation Planning

Planning a 2-week trip starting June 15? Enter June 15 as start and June 29 as end. The calculator shows 14 days (2 weeks exactly). Include both start and end dates to see 15 days — useful for booking hotel nights.

Project Deadlines

Need to know how many business days until a project deadline? Enable "Count business days only" to exclude weekends. If your deadline is 30 calendar days away, you might only have ~22 business days to work with.

Exam Countdown

Set today as the start date and your exam date as the end date to see exactly how many days you have left to study. The multi-unit display shows this in weeks too — helpful for creating a study schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate days between two dates?
Enter your start and end dates in the fields above, then click "Calculate Days". The calculator instantly shows the total days, plus breakdowns in weeks, months, years, hours, and minutes.
How many business days are between two dates?
Check the "Count business days only" option before calculating. This excludes Saturdays and Sundays from the count. The business day count is also always shown in the detailed results for comparison with calendar days.
Does this include the start and end dates in the count?
By default, the calculator counts the gap between dates (January 1 to January 3 = 2 days). You can check "Include start date" or "Include end date" to change this behavior. With both checkboxes enabled, it counts inclusively (January 1 to January 3 = 3 days).
Can I use this as a date duration calculator?
Yes! The calculator shows duration in multiple units simultaneously — days, weeks, months, years, and even hours, minutes, and seconds. It also provides a natural language summary of the duration.
Does the business day calculator account for holidays?
Currently, the business day calculator excludes weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) only. Holiday support for specific countries is planned for a future update. For now, you may need to manually subtract any holidays that fall within your date range.
